Dookie

Released in 1994, “Dookie” was the third studio album released by Green day via Reprise Records, and is the album that cannon fired Green Day towards the level of global fame that they hold today.

It’s no surprise that it did to be frank, this album is an absolute classic, that cannot be denied. Listening to this just takes me back to growing up in the 2000s, hearing songs from this album blast amongst the symphony that was punk rock at that stage of my life. I’m sure most people, even non-rock fans know “Basket Case, and other songs such as “When I Come Around” which even ended up in Fortnite. Cannot believe I’m gauging the modern popularity of a song based on whether or not it is in Fortnite. Dark Days.

Back to the album though, it still holds up to this day. I found myself bobbing my head and playing drums in the air as this blasted in my living room. There are a couple of songs on here that are not absolute bangers, but the problem is that this album has such incredible songs on display that it comes down at times to a game of comparison. There isn’t much more I can say on this album, as I am very sure that a 24 year old is not going to add much to the already 30+ years of debate, so I will simply end it by saying: It’s an awesome album, never gets old to me, and hearing songs from it live in 2025 at Download was perfect. That is all.
