November is upon up finally! With that we grow ever closer to the moment where Download Festival announce their headliners for the following years festival, so the question is; who will it be?
Well, last year featured 3 huge name in Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Guns n Roses. Unfortunately, we missed out on going for the first time in 3 years due to issues getting tickets, but from what we saw online from strangers and friends it looked incredible. Albeit with maybe a few awkward moments relating to the weather and something about a fair ride? Not sure.
Anyways, each year some of us always try to guess who will feature at the next event, some wild guesses always come about, and some fairly reasonable ones too, so today we are going to go through and break down our guesses for who may be headlining, why, and maybe a little wildcard guess too.
Will’s Guess
This year I have heard a lot of chatter which I have tried to avoid regarding next years headliners, however I haven’t been able to avoid the conversations surrounding Blink 182.
They will be headlining Rock am Ring 2027, and with previous headliners being shared between the two festivals, it is hard to ignore. And let’s be honest, it would be an awesome way to spend a night at Download hearing some of the biggest pop punk hits being played live.
Besides that, I will keep the rest short and sweet, having last played in 2023 at Donnington, I have seen a large following mention that Evanescence could be one of the big 3, and I am inclined to agree. Having not been to the festival in 4 years and also having released some new music along the way, it is entirely possible that they could come back to headline in June next year.
But, to avoid following the herd too much, my last guess may seem a little…..out of left field.
Next year, a famous rock band responsible for some of the most recognisable tunes in the industry will be touring the UK. Not just that, but they will be touring during the same period as Download with some gaps in the schedule the last time I read.
Nickelback.
Now hear me out. Don’t click off yet. Fans have been screaming for these guys to play at Download for years, every comment section always has people begging for them to come to the UK festival, so why not? They are huge, and in recent years have seemed to get past that weird phase where everybody pretended to hate them.
Worst case, I am probably 2 for 3, but that is the whole point of this, just a little fun!
Craig’s Guess
Sitting on a call with Craig as I write this, he is scouring the internet to gather his options, this isn’t a competition he just likes to see the options.
His first guess is Evanescence, his reasoning being the same to mine before hand that they haven’t played in a while and deserve that spot at the top.
Next up, he has said Muse. They haven’t been to the Donnington site in years, and for us they hold a bit of a special connection for reasons we won’t get into on this post. So, he is just hoping they play as they are awesome and we have always wanted a chance to see them live again.
Finally, Blink 182. Everyone is saying it, if it isn’t true then that is some devious marketing and distractions by Download Festival.
There was also an honourable mention for Nickelback too in there, we think that if they aren’t headlining they could at least still be supporting!
So, that is our guesses for the Download line-up, we may do a more comprehensive list closer to the time but for now, that is our hopes for the top 3 at the festival in June next year.
Who would you like to see headline the festival?
